Our Beliefs
Our Doctrinal Approach: The Core Tenets of New Exodus
The New Exodus Ministry Fiji is built upon the conviction that radical freedom demands radical trust. Our doctrinal approach is not merely a set of intellectual propositions, but a living covenant to embrace the new thing God is doing. Our foundation is the wisdom of surrender:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
The Three Doctrines of the New Exodus Path
Our doctrinal framework is derived from God’s blueprint for New Beginnings, challenging us to move forward in faith and perception, rather than relying on past methods or limited resources.
1. The Doctrine of Forgetting the Former Things
We are committed to the theological principle that our past failures, successes, or burdens do not define our future in Christ. To embrace the New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), we must deliberately release the baggage of “Egypt” and the comfortable familiarity of the past. Our starting point is grace, not history.
The Command of Release: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
The Foundation of Freedom: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”
Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
2. The Doctrine of Trusting the Provision
We believe that when God initiates a New Exodus journey, He guarantees the provision required for the path. We must not measure God’s power by the size of our budget, our building, or our current attendance. Our job is not to figure out the end, but to be faithful to the next step, trusting that He is our daily source.
The Promise of the Journey: “He will give us what we need, daily, to take the next step.”
(Principle of the Manna and Water from the Rock, Exodus 16:4 and Exodus 17:6)
The Wisdom of Prioritization: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
3. The Doctrine of Perceiving the New Thing
We are convicted that the vision for this ministry is not something we manufacture in our own strength, but something we must perceive as God reveals it. We are called to be an Outpost of Life, expecting and looking for God to make a way where there is none—to create streams in the wasteland for those who are dry and stuck.
The Challenge of Sight: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)
The Empowerment of the Spirit: “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God… but the person with the Spirit judges all things.”
1 Corinthians 2:14-15 (NIV)
The Essentials of the New Exodus
Our theological foundation is built upon the promise that God is always “doing a new thing” (Isaiah 43:19). These are the non-negotiable truths that empower the New Exodus Ministry Fiji and secure our radical freedom in Christ.
The Bible: Our Map in the Wilderness
We believe the Holy Bible is the indispensable map provided by God for the New Exodus journey. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, making it the supreme, infallible, and error-free source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It is the only light we need to navigate the wilderness.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)
Human Beings: The People in Bondage
People are the supreme object of God’s creation, made in His spiritual image. However, all humanity is marred by “sin,” which represents the ultimate bondage and separation from God—our spiritual “Egypt.” This separation is eternal unless a person accepts the Radical Re-Creation of being born-again by the Spirit of God, thus beginning their New Exodus journey.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23 (NIV)
“Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
John 3:3 (NIV)
Salvation: The New Creation Mandate
Salvation is the free gift of God’s grace, received through personal faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not based on self-improvement or works, but entirely on Christ’s finished work. Salvation means being made new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and adopted as children of God, finally set free for freedom (Galatians 5:1) from the yoke of the past.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
The Church: The Life-Giving Outpost
We believe the Church is the unified Body and Bride of Christ worldwide, made up of all born-again believers. Locally, the Church is the people, called to be a Life-Giving Outpost—a place where God makes streams in the wasteland (Isaiah 43:19) for the community. We are commissioned to make disciples and express the love of Christ through word and deed.
“And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body.”
Ephesians 1:22-23 (NIV)
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 28:19 (NIV)
Sanctification: Reflecting the New Identity
Sanctification is a definitive act where believers are permanently set apart as holy the moment of faith. As New Creations, the process of sanctification is the Holy Spirit renewing our minds so that our actions increasingly reflect the holiness we already possess in Christ. We mature in grace by growing the Fruit of the Spirit on the New Exodus path.
“And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
Hebrews 10:10 (NIV)
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Romans 12:2 (NIV)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
Jesus Christ: The Leader of the New Exodus
We believe in the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ. His virgin birth and sinless life confirm His perfection, and His bodily resurrection from the dead is the ultimate demonstration of His power to deliver us from sin and the “former things.” He ascended to heaven, and we await His return to fully establish His eternal, renewed Kingdom as King of Kings.
“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”
Colossians 2:9 (NIV)
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.”
Philippians 2:9 (NIV)
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
John 11:25 (NIV)
God: The Triune Creator of Newness
There is one God who is the Creator and Ruler of the universe, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This Triune God is the consistent source of all grace and the ultimate Author of New Beginnings.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”
Deuteronomy 6:4 (NIV)
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 28:19 (NIV)
The Holy Spirit: The Power for the Journey
The Holy Spirit is the co-equal person of the Godhead who convicts the world and permanently indwells every Christian. He is the provision and power given for the journey. He replaces the “heart of stone” with a “heart of flesh” and equips the Body of Christ with spiritual gifts to help us “perceive the new thing” and fulfill the ministry’s mission.
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
Ezekiel 36:26 (NIV)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”
Acts 1:8 (NIV)
Kingdom Citizenship: Exalting the Eternal Renewal
We affirm that all authority belongs solely to Jesus Christ. Our commitment is to His eternal, renewed Kingdom, which is not of this world. We worship Jesus exclusively, exalting His Kingdom above any political ideology or earthly regime, and loving all people as image-bearers of God. This ensures our priorities remain God First, not government or culture.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
Matthew 28:18 (NIV)
“I will not yield my glory to another.”
Isaiah 42:8 (NIV)
“My kingdom is not of this world.”
John 18:36 (NIV)
Embracing the Ancient Faith: The Apostles' Creed
We stand in the great tradition of the Church, embracing the historical truths expressed in the Apostles’ Creed as a powerful summary of our Christian faith.
THE APOSTLES CREED (A statement affirming our shared belief)
I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
he resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
